SMS notifications

How Aura appointment SMS works, opt-in and opt-out, unavailable destinations, and higher-risk countries.

SMS notifications

Aura can send transactional SMS about appointments — confirmations, reminders, reschedules, and cancellations — when a guest opts in on your booking form.

Marketing or promotional texts are not part of this program.

Who receives SMS

Guests receive SMS only when:

  1. Your organization has SMS notifications enabled for the booking workflow.
  2. The guest provides a mobile number and opts in on the booking form.
  3. The destination is supported (see Unavailable destinations).

Guests can opt out at any time by replying STOP (or STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT). They can opt back in by replying START, UNSTOP, or YES.

Unavailable destinations

Aura does not deliver SMS to these country codes:

CountryCountry code
Cuba+53
Iran+98
Syria+963

Messages to these destinations will not be sent. This matches our Terms of Service (§7.4 Transactional messaging).

Higher-risk destinations

SMS can be sent to the destinations below, but our messaging provider marks them as higher risk (fraud and unexpected cost). Support should expect occasional delivery issues, stricter rate limits, and escalate unusual volume from these countries.

Country / territoryCountry code(s)
Azerbaijan+994
Bangladesh+880
Israel+972
Oman+968
Pakistan+92
Palestinian Territory+970, +972
Sri Lanka+94
Tajikistan+992
Algeria+213
Nigeria+234
Tunisia+216

If a guest in one of these destinations reports missing SMS: confirm opt-in, confirm the number format, then escalate with booking time and destination country (not the full phone number in public channels).

International delivery

Outside the unavailable destinations above, delivery still depends on carrier rules and destination-country requirements. Some markets need registered sender IDs or other local compliance steps. If a guest does not receive an expected reminder:

  1. Confirm they opted in and did not reply STOP.
  2. Confirm the number is a valid mobile number in E.164 format.
  3. Contact support with the booking time and destination country (not the full phone number in public channels).
